KEBS Certification on Roasted Ground Coffee

  • Our certification includes the East Africa Blend, and high-quality single-origin coffee specifically from the slopes of Mount Kenya, known for its exceptional characteristics (high altitude, volcanic soil, primarily SL-28/SL-34 varietals, meticulous washed processing). "Specialty" implies it meets high-scoring standards for quality & lack of defects.

  • Our pricing approach is designed to be dynamic and transparent, ensuring that the price of our coffee accurately reflects its specific characteristics and inherent value. We move beyond a one-size-fits-all model by integrating key quality indicators directly into our pricing structure. This flexible strategy is built upon three core pillars:

    1. Cupping Quality (Sensory Evaluation)

    2. Grade (Physical Bean Characteristics)

    3. Origin & Terroir

  • Our Roasting Partner: Precision, Passion, and Perfected Profiles

We've partnered with expert roasters who embody a meticulous and passionate approach to transforming exceptional green coffee into perfectly roasted beans. Their philosophy marries the art of sensory perception with the science of thermodynamics, ensuring every batch reaches its full flavor potential. Here’s how they reflect our commitment to quality across every roast level.

    1. Balance Across All Roast Levels:

      • Achieving the desired roast level is about hitting a specific point of balance, not just a color.

      • Light Roast: Roasted just long enough to develop sweetness and tame excessive sharpness while preserving the bean's inherent origin characteristics, vibrant acidity, and delicate nuances. The focus is on clarity and brightness.

      • Medium Roast: Carefully extends the roast post-first crack to develop more body and sweetness (caramelization) while still retaining significant origin character and balancing the acidity. A harmonious blend of origin and roast flavors.

      • Medium to Dark Roast: Pushes further into development, significantly increasing body and introducing deeper, richer, bittersweet notes (dark chocolate, nutty tones, subtle smokiness). Acidity becomes muted. Careful control prevents harshness, aiming for richness and depth.

      • Dark Roast: Taken near or into second crack, emphasizing bold, roast-forward characteristics, heavy body, and minimal acidity. Intense bittersweet and smoky notes dominate. Even at this level, skill is required to achieve a powerful profile without excessive charring or bitterness, often resulting in beans with an oily sheen.

  • Company registration in Kenya is a structured process regulated by the Companies Act, 2015. This guide outlines the steps and requirements necessary to successfully register a company in Kenya.

  • A Limited Liability Company (LLC) is a flexible business structure that combines the pass-through taxation benefits typically associated with partnerships or sole proprietorships with the crucial limited liability protection of a corporation. This means the personal assets of the owners (called members) are generally protected from business debts and lawsuits, shielding them from personal responsibility for the company's financial obligations. Profits and losses are typically reported on the members' personal income tax returns, avoiding the "double taxation" sometimes faced by traditional corporations, although LLCs can often elect to be taxed as a corporation if beneficial.
